Writing A Free Report In Under One Hour – Lesson 3

We are picking up where we left off with lesson number 3 in our series where we are teaching you how to setup a free report so you can start building that all important list. In case you want to review the first two lessons you can access them here:

Lesson 1 – List Building With Free Reports

Lesson 2 – How To Begin Writing Your Free Report

The first thing we are going to talk about here in lesson 3 is constructing an outline for your report, so that when you begin to write your job will be much easier.

If you want to write a really good report from scratch you need organization and form. An outline supplies both. If you are trying to write a report within one hour, the best thing is to keep your main points to only three. Three well-discussed points are better than a half dozen that are only briefly covered. Once you have organized your research and written an outline, it will take you less than half an hour to type up a five or six page report.

A good outline will break down the different parts of your report and help you to organize your thoughts so that the writing process will go smoothly. Think of it like a table of contents.

First, write a brief introduction describing what your report is about and what your reader will learn by reading it.

Next to organize your main points into a logical order and break them down into subcategories if necessary.

Now when you begin to write your report, you can address the main points individually.  This is much easier then trying to write the entire report at one time. Begin by writing anywhere from one to three paragraphs on each point. Keep in mind that this is a short report that you’re giving away for free, so you don’t have to delve too deeply into each point.  Remember you want them coming back to you for more information.

After you have addressed your individual points write your conclusion and your report is finished. Please don’t be concerned if your first report takes a little longer than an hour.  Once you have mastered this process you will be able to create one report after another in no time at all!

Now let’s move onto a way that you can quickly create reports without doing all of the writing yourself.

Another way that you can produce a free report in under an hour is to download one that is already written from a PLR (Private Label
Rights) site. There are many such sites that are available on the Internet. You will have to be a member of a PLR site to download reports from the site. Memberships in these sites are usually rather inexpensive and they provide you access to a lot of material
that is almost ready for you to use.

You will still need to do a lot of rewriting on the reports that you download and if you download articles that you plan to consolidate into a report, you will need to make a good outline of your report so that the information will be presented in a logical sequence.

You can either download a report from a PLR site or several articles that contain the information that you want to include in your free report and combine the articles to make one longer report. All material that is downloaded from PLR sites should have at least some rewrite done before you use it on your own site, anyway. Rewriting is easily and quickly done.

Yet another way to create a report in an hour or less is to download articles from free content sites and then combine and
rewrite the information that is in them. The articles that are on free sites must be rewritten extensively.

The purpose that the authors of those articles had for placing them on sites for free use is to get credit for having written them. These
articles can be used as reference but they may not be reproduced word for word.

A word to the wise: Always check the accuracy of statistics or facts that are included in articles downloaded from free sites. You
can use the basic ideas of these articles as well as the facts that are contained in them but you must NOT reproduce them word for word without giving credit to the author… that is plagiarism and it is a crime.

Again… consolidating articles into a report requires that you make a good outline before you begin.

There is one more way that you can achieve getting a free report produced in an hour or less but in this case you won’t be the one doing the writing. You can hire yourself a good ghostwriter to write your free report for you. All you will need to do is to provide this ghostwriter with the subject and the material that you wish to have included in the report… not the actual material but the subject matter.

The entire process will take less than one hour of your time and they will do all the work for you. There are several places that you can find a ghostwriter, like; Hireaghostwriter.com, Elance.com or Guru.com. Of course there are many others but you get the idea. Just be sure to do your research and check out the references, so you can be sure that you higher the best person for the job.

After you receive a report read it and then pay the ghostwriter. The report then belongs to you. You can list yourself as the author and do whatever you choose to do with it. Including giving it away for free!

Come back for your next lesson where we’re going to be talking about how to put profit centers inside your free report so that you can start to make money online with these free reports.

How To Make Money Online With Free Reports – Lesson 2

In this lesson we will go over how to choose a topic and gather information so that you can begin writing your report. This part of the process is actually the most time-consuming, and  one you have mastered your research and gathering techniques you will be able to quickly write your reports in 60 minutes, sometimes even less.

As we discussed in the last lesson free reports are a popular tools used by Internet marketers to build their mailing lists and make big profits fast. The reason so many savvy marketers use free reports so often is simply because they work.

Once you understand that people search the Internet because they want or need information it easy to understand why free reports work so effectively. People are constantly seeking for information on subjects that will make them feel better, look better, get smarter, or solve a problem. If you provide them with a free report that will help them solve their problem, you will look like an expert in their eyes and  that alone can do a lot to increase your reputation and your selling power.

Reports can take many forms but no matter what the form, a report is simply a written document that provides information about a
specific subject.

Don’t worry, writing a report doesn’t have to be a tedious or time consuming task. A short report can be written in as little as an hour provided that you have access to sufficient information on the subject and since the Internet really is the “Information Super Highway” information on almost any subject is readily available with a few clicks of your mouse.

Today we’re going to talk about creating your first report from scratch.  The first thing that is required for your report is a topic.

The topic that you choose to write your report on should be one that is directly related to the topic of your website or product, because you want the people that will be downloading and reading to be interested in the information that you are providing for them.

The easiest method that I have found for deciding on a topic is to choose a broad subject first and then narrow it down to two or three specific points. A good way to do this is to ask yourself some simple questions.

For instance;

What does my product or service have to offer consumers?

What are the major selling points of my product?

Who are the people that will be reading my report?

What are their needs concerning this topic?

Once you have answered these and any additional questions you may have concerning your audience, you can then begin to formulate your objectives. Your objectives will indicate exactly what the readers of your report will go after they have finished it.

For example, for a web design report one objective would be “After you have finished reading this report you will be able to add
an image to a web page.”

If you get stuck for ideas try asking your current list of subscribers or customers and see what they need help with. Do some research by visiting blogs and forums that relate to the products and services that you sell and see what their customers, thoughts and concerns are.

Another good way to do some quick research is to set up a free account at a fairly new website called www.ask500people.com.
This site allows you to post your questions in a format that makes it easy for you to receive hundreds of responses from people all
over the world and you can use this information to narrow down your choices quickly.

Once you have settled on a topic for your free report, the next step is to gather information that is related to that topic.

This can be easily accomplished by referring your favorite search engine again. This time just plug in some key words related to the
topic that you have chosen.  Don’t worry that you won’t be able to find enough information to work with. In fact, most of the time it’s
the exact opposite. Chances are, you will find too much information rather than not enough. Be prepared because you are
going to have to sift through and consolidate the information, but if you have narrowed your topic down properly, it won’t be all that
difficult.

That’s it for today’s lesson, but you do have homework. I want you to get out your notepad and start doing your research. Remember to think about what your product has to offer, narrow down your topic and main objective, then start jotting down some ideas and links to information that you can use to write your report.

In the next lesson on this topic we’re going to talk about how to construct an outline for your report, so that your job will be much easier when you begin writing. Plus another way that you can construct your reports without doing all of the writing yourself. I appreciate you reading my blog.

List Building With Free Reports – Lesson 1

This is the first lesson in a five part series that will help you learn how to quickly create, distribute, and profit from your own free reports.

In this first lesson let’s talk a little bit about what you can do with free reports and what they can do for you.

Let me ask you this question….

How often do you see the words “free report” when you are surfing the Web looking for information?

About a million…. right?

It doesn’t matter what topic you’re searching for, everybody seems to be offering a free report on the subject.

The big question is, why?

Why should anybody go to all of the time, trouble, and effort to produce a report that is going to given away for free?

You see the point is NOT to sell the report you create and make a boatload of money from the sales. The entire point of a ‘free report’ is to give it to people in exchange for their names and email addresses.

Not that the report isn’t valuable in itself, but the real value is in the names and email addresses of those who download your report. They are much more valuable than the report will ever be!

The truth be told, with the thousands of free reports that are available online, there are only a few very, savvy marketers who know exactly how to put together a ‘free’ report and market effectively so that it takes on a life of its own and continues to produce phenomenal results for weeks, months, or even years after the report is released. These savvy marketers use their reports to build massive mailing lists, quickly and efficiently.

Don’t get me wrong. The free report list building technique isn’t limited only to Internet marketers. It spills over into brick and mortar marketing as well…or maybe that’s where it started. Who knows? The lines between Internet marketing and Brick and Mortar Marketing have become a bit blurred over the years.

If you don’t believe me, go and perform a search for  ‘free marketing reports’ using your favorite search engine. You’ll find free reports about all kinds of products and services. You will find free reports about marketing beverages, sports, music, B2B marketing and dozens of others. The point of these free reports is the same. The idea is to give your potential customer valuable information to in exchange for his or her name and email address for the purpose marketing products and services to them in the future.

One important key to effectively using free reports to build an opt- in list, either online or off-line is that it must contain good, solid information. The information does not have to be completely unique, but it must be accurate and free reports must be well written…  no poor grammar or misspelled words are allowed. The information needs to be presented to readers in a clear way, as well.

Another key is that good reports, whether they are free or paid for, must be helpful to  the people who read them. Make sure you check your facts and include relevant, timely data.

As you’re creating your report you also want to keep in mind that the whole point of your free report is NOT the actual report. The report is only a means to and end.  In the planning stages you will want to decide exactly what you want your report to accomplish and keep those goals in mind as you are writing.

Look for your next lesson on this blog. We will be going over how you can write your own free report in only 60 minute.  But until then, I want you to take some time and think about the reasons that you’re writing your report and exactly what you wanted them to do for you. Be sure to take some notes and jot down some ideas, so that you will be ready for the next step.

Thank you for reading my blog. Make sure you come back soon for the other part of this report.

8 Steps For Successfully Researching Your Niche

Researching your niche is an important stage because you want to find out if your chosen niche will be profitable for you. Plus you are entering the beginning stages of product research as well.

Remember, in this stage, you especially want to know…

·    Are other people passionate about your niche? If not, do they have a desperate problem they want to solve?

·       Is the market big enough, but not so big you’ll have too much competition when you’re just starting out?

·       Do the people in this niche spend money?

·       What products are being successfully sold right now to this niche? Can you sell something similar? Can you improve it, give them something they want that all other products of their kind are currently lacking?

Let’s run through the steps for this important strategy.

Step 1 – Keyword research. Build a spreadsheet with the most common searched-for terms for your niche. Start with some basic keywords (i.e. if you were in the crafts niche, you would start with the word “crafts” and branch out from there)

Here are some good keyword tools to help you generate your starting list:

·         http://www.kwbrowse.com – Good keyword visualization tool

·         http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com – Free version of keyword tool Wordtracker

·         http://www.goodkeywords.com – Free Windows software for finding keywords

·         http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/keywords/ – Search engine keyword tracker & keyword ranking tool

·         http://www.nichebotclassic.com – Still a great resource, also powered by Wordtracker

·         http://www.keyworddiscovery.com – Paid or free trial

·         https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal – Google’s free tool

There are MANY more keyword research tools out there. With the demise of Overture’s free service, many of them are still out there, but provide outdated or useless information. These are a good bunch to start with.

A couple more useful resources:

·         http://www.terapeak.com – Researches eBay auctions over the last 30 days

·         http://addictomatic.com – Research site that scrapes the web for keywords you specify

Step 2 – Discover your major competitors in this niche. Perform some Google searches for your main competitors and see who the advertisers are in the right-hand panel (i.e. Google Adwords advertisers).

Make a list of the top 10 competitors you will face (i.e. only those who sell similar products to what you are considering—for example, if you’re going to sell an info-product, ignore the ones with physical goods).

This is one gem for finding out if your market is hot. If companies are paying for advertising for similar products as yours, it’s a good indication they’re making money. If they weren’t, they could afford to keep paying for ads.

Step 3 – Research the top discussion forums and communities for your niche.

Do a search on Google for forums in your niche. For example, if your niche is freestyle Frisbee, you might do a search for “freestyle Frisbee forum” or “freestyle Frisbee discussion board” or “Frisbee discussion”.

Forums are a GREAT way to find out what your market wants. Sign up as a member to these forums and start by “lurking”. That is, just spend some time reading all the posts. Then when you feel more at ease with the group, introduce yourself and start asking questions. Tell them you’re considering buying one of your competitor’s products. Get their feedback. Ask them what they like and don’t like about it, etc.

Step 4 – What blogs do they read? Check out the top blogs in your target market by doing a search on:

·         http://www.technorati.com

·         http://www.blogcatalog.com

Also check out the “blogrolls” at each of the blogs you visit and see who else they’re linking to. Make a list of the top 10 to 20 blogs or so here:

Step 5 – Check out YouTube.com and Google Video (http://video.google.com) and do a search for your keywords. See what videos come up. Are they marketing-related? Do they include a website address on it to learn more, where they’re selling a product or service?

Step 6 – Do a search on Google, Yahoo, and MSN and see who has the top rankings for your keywords

Step 7 – Other miscellaneous research. Search PRWeb.com and look for any press releases related to your market. Search EzineArticles.com and save the articles that are related to your market. Use Alexa.com and Compete.com to see which of your potential competitors are getting the most traffic. Search Google using your keywords and add “+ezine” or “+newsletter” at the end to find email newsletters.

Step 8 – Search clickbank.com and cj.com to see what products in your market are being sold and for how much.

Armed with this information and the information in the other posts you now have plenty of information at your fingertips  to ensure you find the best possible niche markets to get into.

Niche Marketing Strategy Revealed

Let me show you a process to go through when you’re trying to brainstorm for niche market ideas.

For starters, I’m always aware of trends and current events in the real world. I read several newspapers each day, many magazines, both general and niche-specific, I watch the news, I listen to the radio. Occasionally something that I hear or read will stick with me. I may record my thoughts on my portable voice recorder, jot down some notes, whatever happens to be convenient for me. Sometimes I’ll call my office voice mail and leave myself a message.

But at some point I’ll have several broad ideas to research. I want to look deeper. And I want to make sure there is a good market for them before I even think about creating a product. So I’ll begin completing the following steps:

Google Zeitgeist – http://www.google.com/press/zeitgeist.html

To begin with, I check out the hottest search trends at Google Zeitgeist.

From here I can select:

•    Google Trends – For a broad look at search query data, enter up to five search terms to see relative popularity over time.
•    Trends for Websites – Google Trends for website traffic data. Type in a website address to see visitors by region and related sites visited.
•    Insights for Search – A deeper dive into search query data for marketers and power users. Create your own lists of “most popular” and “fastest rising” queries for different geographic regions over time and by topic.
•    Hot Trends – The top 100 fastest-rising search queries right now (U.S. only). Updates throughout the day.
I can also click on “Year-End Zeitgeist” or “Zeitgeist Archives” in the upper-left corner to look at past trends, especially if I’m researching cyclical or other trends over time.

At this point I am just looking for ideas. If I see that a particular topic is hot, I’ll make a note of it and look at more targeted sub-niches later on at more specialized sites (which I’ll show you shortly).

Lycos Top 50 – http://50.lycos.com

The Lycos Top 50 is another site, like Google Zeitgeist, where I will review the latest trends and look for hot topics to explore further. I will also look at Yahoo! Buzz for ideas as well (see below).

Yahoo! Buzz – http://buzz.yahoo.com

eBay Pulse – http://pulse.ebay.com

The eBay Pulse site is a great place to start looking at sub-niches. What I will do is select the category first (using the topics I’ve gathered from looking at the previous sites), then look for profitable sub-niches by then selecting a sub-category. The best chance for success is if I am as specific as possible with my niche selection. In the example below, I don’t want to sell to the “crafts” niche. I want to sell to grandmothers who enjoy giving their latch rug hooking gifts to their families and friends. You get the idea.

Also, I’ll always check the largest stores as well to see what they’re selling. There has to be a reason they are the largest stores. They must be doing something right.

Now that I have some potential sub-niches to work with, I want to see how much of a market there is there. Just because a sub-niche is popular doesn’t mean people spend money on it.

Amazon – http://www.amazon.com

Amazon is a great place to see what currently exists for any given sub-niche. Chances are, the more books there are written on that subject, the more that market spends on those topics.

Next I may use certain qualifying keywords to discover potential niches. You may have heard these called “discovery keywords”, and they are exactly that.

If you go to Google and type in any of the following keywords (make sure you surround them with double quotes for exact matches):

•    How to
•    How do I
•    How do you
•    How to fix
•    How do I fix
•    How do you fix
•    How to prevent
•    How do I prevent
•    How do you prevent
•    How to cure
•    How do I cure
•    How do you cure
•    How to remove
•    How do I remove
•    How do you remove
•    How to quit
•    How do I quit
•    How do you quit
•    How to get rid of
•    How do I get rid of
•    How do you get rid of
•    How to lose
•    How do I lose
•    How do you lose
•    How to get
•    How do I get
•    How do you get
•    How to stop
•    How do I stop
•    How do you stop
•    learn
•    get rid of
•    fix
•    remove
•    prevent
•    cure
•    quit
•    lose
•    get
•    eliminate
•    restore
•    stop

You can also use the Google Keywords Tool (https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal), just make sure you uncheck “Use Synonyms” as you only want exact matches.

Discovery keywords are a great way to find what people are looking to do, solve, or accomplish.

Finally, I like to capitalize on the “low hanging fruit.” That is, it’s always much easier to sell a similar product to one that’s already selling well than to try to enter a market cold. If you research your potential competitors up front, you’re going to get a pretty good idea as to how well they’re doing, both in terms of checking their traffic rankings by Alexa (http://www.alexa.com) and Compete.com (http://www.compete.com), as well as their Pay-Per-Click (PPC) ads in Google, Yahoo, and MSN (at a minimum). We’re going to cover that in the next post.

Start working to find yourself a profitable niche!

5 Simple and Interesting Ways To Make Extra Money From Home

The ability to make money online from home is certainly right at our finger tips, but knowing where to look for the right opportunities can really be difficult. It can feel at times like there is no hope so a lot of people give up on their pursuit to work from home.

I have put together a list of 5 interesting ways that you can make money from home. I wish that I had a guide like this when I was starting out online. I now work full time online, and have done so for almost 3 full years now. It is truly a blessing to do this, and I know you will get some great value from the list below.

Some of these methods may seem a little bizarre, but there are a few methods that will be right for you in here, you just have to look for it.

1. Become An At Home Transcriptionist

Businesses, professors, lawyers, doctors, media agencies, and more often need to have audios converted into text format. If you can type fast and have good grammar skills you can take these audio files and type out what they say and submit them back to the company and get paid for it. It is a simple typing job that you can do from home as a freelancer. To find opportunities to be a freelance transcriptionists visit some the websites below. You can also run a search on Google for transcriptioninsts, transcription services, transcription employment, and than contact the companies to see if they have openings for a freelance transcriptionist.

2. Get Paid To Drive

Companies will pay you to advertise their business on your car. It is not a way to make huge amounts of money, but you can make anywhere from an extra $50 a month to an extra $500 per month doing this. Run a search on Google for “car wrap advertising” or “car wraps” or “car advertisements” and look at the companies that come up. Only contact companies that offer this service. Do not pay for a directory with this information out there. You will see in your search advertisements for a directory, but if you look hard enough you can get this information for free.

Here is a few websites to check out.

3. At Home Customer Service Agent

Large and small companies alike are finding that it is cheaper to actually employ people from home than it is to have them in the office, so many of them are outsourcing customer service jobs to individuals that want to work from home. To do this you will need it to be quiet where you work, you will need a noise cancelling USB headset, and you will need high speed Internet access.

Some links to check out for more customer service jobs are:

http://www.micahtek.com/jobs.html
http://hq.service800.com/repapplication.asp
http://www.vipdesk.com/info/careers_joinourteam.asp

You can also do a Google search for “customer service agent needed”, “telecommute customer service agent”, “at home customer service”, etc.

4. Use Your Voice for Money

Many independent business owners, large corporations, talent executives, TV stations, radio stations, and more are seeking good, quality voice-over talent. People looking for voice-overs for television commercials, television station promos, radio commercials, radio station promos, business and corporate videos, video game voices, podcasting voices, and more post jobs everyday online to find people with good voices.

To get started all you need is a good voice and someway to record your voice. You can typically find a USB headset microphone that you can use for this. Simply plug it in and record your voice using a free program like Audacity.

Some websites where you can find voice over jobs to bid on are listed below. You will need to setup an account with these places and record your voice for samples. I know that as of right now Voices.com charges to sign up, but the others do not charge up front, although they do have paying options. It is worth the few dollars if you are serious about doing this. The more jobs you bid on, the better chance you have of getting one of them.

5. Freelance Writing

Freelance writing is one method that can make you good income rather easily and quickly. All you need is a little creativity, the ability to type, and the ability to focus, and you can be really successful as a work from home freelance writer. All you really need is an Internet connection and a computer. You can even download free word processing programs online. One good one is called Open Office and it can be found at www.openoffice.org.

There are many different types of free writing jobs available online. These include articles, blog posts, forum posts, sales copywriting, writing ebooks, and more. You can get paid anywhere from $3 to $500 or more for each project you take on when you are starting out. As you gain experience and get more references and clients under your belt you can demand more money. I know of some people that charge $10,000 for sales letters, or they charge over $200 for articles only.

There are many places online where you can find freelance writing jobs to bid on.

http://www.guru.com
http://www.getafreelancer.com
http://www.elance.com
http://www.helium.com/marketplace

To make a special note the Helium marketplace is quite unique because you don’t bid on articles or writing projects. The publisher who is paying you simply posts their project description along with what they are willing to pay, and you submit your article. Keep in mind that you may not be chosen because you are competing with other people, but the great thing with this site is that the payouts are higher for articles, and if you do good work you can get a lot of residual income.

To find more sites run a search on Google or another search engine for phrases like writer marketplace, freelance writing, online service marketplace, etc. Just be aware that you may come across sites that want you to pay for a list of freelance websites. You will want to avoid this as much as possible, as this information is easily accessible.

7 Places To Uncover Hot Niche Markets Free

Being one of the first marketers to jump on a hot niche market can mean a lot of money to you online. Also, being able to choose a good one can make the difference between success or failure. Since finding a good niche market is so important to your online business I have put together this list of 7 places you must have in your toolbox when looking for a market to tap into.

You may already know about some of these, but I am sure there are a few you hadn’t heard about yet.

1. Yahoo! Buzz – Shows you the top stories and the top stories for each week. You can also browse different niches like Health, Business, Entertainment, etc. to find the hottest stories for that week.

2. About.com – Be A Guide Section – You may be wondering why I would include this on here. About.com is a huge content rich informational website with experts which are also known as guides being the ones providing the content. Well, About.com is always looking for new guides and new hot topics to expand into, so a good way to find some potentially hot niches is to look at the categories they are seeking guides for. That means that their researches have found these to be hot topics, so they are looking to hire someone to write about this topic.

3. Search.com – Top Searches – It offers a list of the 250 top search terms. Browse through this list and you may come across a hot niche.

4. Amazon.com Bestsellers – This place offers you more than just book bestsellers, but it shows you their top sellers for each category that you select from the left hand side. This can give you an excellent idea for a new niche website to create. You can’t go wrong with data reported from a giant like Amazon.com

5. Google Hot Trends – Shows the top 100 hottest searches. It updates every few minutes so check this website often, so you can be on top of a big news break.

6. PriceGrabber.com Most Popular – Check out the most popular products purchased from PriceGrabber.com.

7. Popular Delicious Bookmarks – Find the most recent and popular bookmarks. If a lot of people bookmark it, than it is a good indicator that niche is a good one to go after.

Once you use these sources to find a potential niche market, it is good to use the Google Adwords Keyword Tool to find additional keywords in that niche, and to narrow down on possible additional search phrases as well. Keep in mind that if you are on a brand new and really hot niche there may be very little from keyword research tools.
