I understand this very well as I have played this scenario out over and over for myself. List building is arguably the single most important thing you can do.

The problem is that building your email list up in the niche you are targeting may take weeks, months, or even a few years to get a large enough group of people to see any decent results from a campaign. Here are a few ideas to ensure you have the best success with your email campaign.

1. Send Them to Your Squeeze Page

Instead of just sending them to an affiliate offer you should consider sending them to a squeeze page or a lead capture page so you can get their name and email address.

Here is an example of one of my squeeze pages that you can model if you want. Just click on ‘Save-As’ from the file menu inside your web browser to save that template to your computer.

So come up with an offer like a free report, interview, free video, etc. To create the content for this offer you could use PLR material. If you pay to rent an email list then you will want to send them to your offer to get the real serious ones on your list so you can follow up later with affiliate promotions or your very own offers.

2. Have Good Email Copy Prepared

You will want to have good email copy ready to go for your campaign so after you pay for it you can send the list provider the data they need to send out your campaign or solo ad. To get some ideas just look at the emails you receive from other Internet marketers and emulate how they structure their emails.

3. Don’t Overspend

Just like anything else I recommend, you will want to make sure you don’t overspend and only invest what you can afford to get things going. Don’t jump in and invest your last dime to live on, but if you have a marketing budget set aside to grow your business this is a great way to go. Don’t Give Up and Don’t Stop Learning!

If you have struggled at trying to make money online, or if you are just getting started at making money online keep this simple thought in mind. You must never, ever, ever give up! That means if you really want to make money online you don’t just throw in the towel at the first sign of failure. You keep at it until you figure it out. Using social bookmark websites such as Digg.com and Reddit.com to build links to your website can really help increase your traffic. The biggest thing you need to do to make social book marking effective is to have good content for them on your website, and also write an enticing headline to encourage more clicks. If you can be somewhat controversial or make a bold statement that will encourage more clicks.

When writing your headline just think of wording that encourages you to click on something. You want the potential visitor to think they would be missing out on something if they did not click on that link.

The other benefit that social book marking has on your website traffic is that it can bring you both short term and long term traffic. The link on these websites typically stays live for a long time, and also many of the social book marking websites pass page rank. For example if you have a website that sells home interior products you would search for “submit article” interior design. The number of niche specific article directories and websites that accept articles is different for every industry, but you should find some no matter what industry you are in.

3. Online Press Releases

Submitting press releases online is an effective method for building links to your website and also traffic. Most business think of just submitting a press release to your local newspaper, but when you do that you are really limiting your potential.

Most places that allow you to submit your press release online also give you a link back to your website. This link again will help improve your overall search engine rankings, and will also have an impact on building long term traffic.

The other positive note of an online press release is that it gives your business credibility. One of the biggest things that I can caution any new person on that is trying to make money online is to not build your business on third parties. When I refer to a third party I am referring to another website. There are many websites out there which enable you to setup free blogs and free mini websites. Please don’t get me wrong that these channels make for some remarkable marketing opportunities, but you don’t want to get caught up in using them as your only website.

It is so important to your business that you have a central website that you have total control and ownership of. You can than use all of these free resources to drive traffic to your one website that you own. My reasoning for this is quite simple. With these third parties at almost anytime they can just decide to remove your free website or blog. If that happened you would lose all of your income if you had built your business on this platform. Instead all you lost was a marketing channel, so you can go a different route with marketing.

You want to be in total control. So all you need to get started with your own website is a domain name and a hosting account. Once you have that you will be in total control to run your business.

Make sure that at all times you are in control of your business, and don’t rely on one source for all of your traffic or your revenue.
